About

Updates in italics below.

This blog aims to document how a relatively inexperienced 22 year old (now 23), Indian female overcame all the odds to get into the business school of her dreams.

I’ve always known that I wanted to get my MBA and I’ve just been waiting for the right time. I graduated with a degree in Electronics in 2013 and I have been working for a product development startup as a software engineer ever since. A few months after graduating, I also started my own venture in the content writing/education consulting space, which has fortunately been doing quite well.

I only have about 17 months of work experience so far, which will be 2 years at the time of matriculation. My lack of work experience is going to be my biggest challenge, but for professional and personal reasons, I believe now is the best time for me to get my MBA. (I have closer to 31 months of experience now and I made the switch from engineering to product management)

I’m an extrovert who loves travel and adventure. I’ve been to over 30 countries so far and I’ve done some pretty crazy things along the way (I jumped off a really high bridge a few months ago). I’m an adrenalin junkie and I’m always looking for new ways to spice up my life. Writing is a cathartic process for me and so I’ve decided to document the entire journey. I’ve covered pretty much every step of the way in this blog, including school research, applications, information sessions, interviews and my sometimes unhealthy mental state during the whole thing!

I’m hoping it ends well for me, but I guess only time will tell. If you ever want to chat or if you have any questions, shoot me a mail at pullingthatmbatrigger@gmail.com.

  1. Hi PTMT,

My name is Andres and I do online outreach for TopMBA.com.

We are an online resource for MBA applicants. We provide MBA rankings, event information, business school profiles, and MBA admissions advice. We also allow for interaction through our new MBA forum and blog. We are looking for more bloggers to feature on our website! We feature other great bloggers such as Hugo In The Middle and I was wondering if you’d be interested in blogging for us. If so, you can contact me at andres@qs.com and I can send you a copy of the blogger guidelines as well as answer any questions you may have. You can also see the latest blog posts here: http://www.topmba.com/blog, look forward to hearing from you.

  3. Hi PTMT,

Your blog is super inspiring! I am actually going through the same drill that you were last year, applying with 1 year 3 months of work ex. It would be awesome if I could connect with you and get some advice.

    Hoping to hear back!
